Salitter is an old word for the Philosopher's stone. It was the goal of the alchemists. They would work with precious metals, forming, shaping and combining them through fire to achieve the most perfect and divine substance.
When building bicycle frames, Salitter represents the combination of art and engineering, where elegant and modern designs are perfectly executed. It’s where metals are formed and shaped and where function and aesthetic are held in the ultimate balance.
In order to achieve the philosophers stone, the individual elements must go through several stages of processing, much like the frame building process. The Salitter frames are named after each of these stages.
I am Sarah Green and my frames are built by hand using the finest chromoly steel. I fell in love with bespoke, artisan frames and through Salitter I create exceptional quality frames, each one a unique and functional piece of art. I am inspired by art and alchemy together with form and function to produce frames where detail matters.
I build frames that use lightweight tubing and are engineered to be fast, sure footed and simple. I have stripped away complexity so the rider can connect more easily with nature.
I custom design, build and paint the frames according to their intended use and to be special and meaningful to their owner.
